The Hatchet Inn & UWE Bristol

I have been associated with The Hatchet Inn, firstly as an on off irregular who enjoyed the music played in the early days 1999-2003, whilst working in call centres in Bristol city centre.

In 2002 to 2003 I attended UWE Bristol as a full time Geography student but that didn't quite go to plan and left without my degree until 2006, when I was informed by my Geography lecturer that I had passed minus the BA after my name. I did well enough!

From 2003 on-wards i became more involved with performance poetry and The Hatchet Inn became a link to which friends would gather. Over time The Hatchet Inn gave me an opportunity to gig there and run an Open Mic in 2007, as well as getting me housed on more than one occasion during my homeless days...

From 2009 I have been housed and stayed in the same place much to my surprise. The Influence of the Hatchet Inn continued as did my poems on the wall from that 2006 commission I did for Hatchets 400 year anniversary.

By mid 2019 I was ready to go back into Full Time work again after a short layoff and I ended up back at UWE Bristol, this time as a Procurement Assistant and later Finance Assistant in its finance department.

Three years later I am still there, my poems are now placed on the main wall by the back bar in The Hatchet Inn and I continue to write and look for recording opportunities.

My next poetry collection, 'No Prisoners Taken' is almost done...Copies will be sent down to Exeter sometime in the summer. Nice!
